Dutch Government Extends C2000 Fallback System
For the time being, GroupTalk, offered by 2Way, will remain the fallback system for the C2000 TETRA network.
During the migration to the new Hytera C2000 network, the Push-to-Talk solution was already used by the police and the military police., reports Verbinding
Also on the police intranet it is indicated that GroupTalk is the official fallback for C2000.
“In the event of maintenance or other planned outages, we will work with the well-known 'connector', a third colleague on the car who operates the PTT app on the telephone. With ad-hoc, the co-driver will have to operate the app.”
The app has been rolled out on dedicated phones and is no longer intended for dedicated service phones. In 2021, there will be a big exercise with all of the equipment. Instructors already have started installing mobile phones with the app with training courses to follow quickly.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice and Security confirms the extension of GroupTalk.
“Following the migration period of C2000, the choice has now been made to continue using a Push-to-Talk service as a fallback facility. At the moment, the same Push-to-Talk service is still being used as that used during the migration of C2000. By its nature, however, this is a temporary facility. The current European tender Push-to-Talk Service should provide a structural fallback facility. ”
The European tender is still ongoing. “A competitive dialogue is currently taking place with the selected suppliers. The aim is to be able to finalize the contract by the end of April 2021. ”
