TC Connect and Ready Communication Partner on Advanced Satellite Technology for PPDR
Through extensive testing and development, Ready Communication has created an advanced communications system in compact packaging.
TC Connect AS, a global provider of radio communications and biometric access and control systems and Ready Communication AS, a company providing emergency responders with robust communication throughout the entire crisis spectrum, announced that they have entered into an exclusive collaboration on advanced satellite technology.
About the collaborration, TC Connect stated on their website:
"New possibilities within satellite technology enable rescue teams to communicate even if ordinary coverage is gone or is not available on site. We at TC Connect are very pleased to have entered into a partnership with Ready Communication. It is always important to have good partners and especially those who have that little extra to offer. We clearly believe that the products from Ready Communication fit right into our portfolio and will become an important product for many of our customers in all segments. We look forward to the journey ahead."
Through extensive testing and development, Ready Communication has created an advanced communications system in compact packaging. The solution is mobile, user-friendly and uses both mobile telephony and satellite services to provide internet to rescue teams in the field or where the need arises. This system will provide the rescue crews with internet during rescue operations or in other situations where ordinary coverage has disappeared or is not previously available.
The system uses SpaceX's Starlink solution, which became available in Norway in early 2023. The system consists of a Starlink antenna and a communication unit that seamlessly combines data over 4G/5G networks or over satellite. This provides Internet coverage on site without the user having to do anything other than put out the antenna and connect power, from e.g. a battery bank.
"For the fire service, it is important to be able to use operational decision support systems, even if the possibilities for communication are down or limited (loss of EKOM). It is equally important for us that we have backup solutions for the municipality's crisis management during major and serious incidents so that it can communicate as normal even if the network is down,"
said fire chief at Sarpsborg Fire Service Terje Surdal.
"We have seen during large events that the capacity of 4G and 5G is challenged and it has been very useful to be able to have your own internet connection through the satellite function of the solution. This has meant that we have been able to stream video, log in real time and communicate with partners in a good way without having to share the bandwidth with thousands of event participants who stream, watch tik-tok and update Instagram,"
said Arnulf Hansen, resource group emergency and ambulance , Østfold Red Cross.
