According to the daily Dutch newspaper "de Telegraaf", the C2000 TETRA emergency communication system for Public Safety within The Netherlands is often shorter or longer time flat for updates.
As there is no back up system available, aid workers in the region only contact each other by telephone. Mayors of different cities sounding the alarm bell about the sensitive system. In some regions the C2000 TETRA system receives updates every few weeks. Each time the system is over five minutes and some times over one and half hours not available.
Within The Netherlands, Mayors are responsible for emergency operation of the system in their own region. In the newspaper Coert van Ee mayor of the municipality Zederik, says that it is not acceptable that the system occasionally is down.
He gets support from his colleagues in the South Holland South region and the region Rotterdam-Rijnmond.
