EMO opts for TETRA and the new MTP3000 radio
EMO is the largest coal and iron ore terminal in Europe. Giant ocean-going vessels from all over the world moor at the quayside at the EMO terminal where they can be quickly and safely unloaded thanks to the terminal’s state of the art equipment.
The fact that everyone is within reach at the push of a button is why EMO chose a multi-site TETRA system from Flash Services Netherlands. They also selected the new MTP3000 series from Motorola.
EMO intends to use the new Motorola TETRA MTP3250 radios on the system. The radio’s greatly improved audio quality is remarkable. Motorola plans to launch the new model at the start of Q3. Flash Services will supply EMO with a total of 255 MTP3250 radios, 8 Motorola MTM800E fixed mobile radios and 53 Motorola MTM800E mobile two-way radios, 20 of which will be connected to a special touch-screen operator’s PC.
Europees Massagoed- Overslagbedrijf BV (EMO) is the largest coal and iron ore terminal in Europe. Giant ocean-going vessels from all over the world moor at the quayside at the EMO terminal where they can be quickly and safely unloaded thanks to the terminal’s state of the art equipment. The cargo is then transported across the terminal via a largely automated system for storage, processing or transhipment.
??Communication is essential to ensure that the work is performed properly, efficiently and above all safely. Everyone on site must be contactable and it must be possible to intervene at the push of a button in the event of an emergency. This is why EMO chose a multi-site TETRA system from Flash Services Netherlands. The system consists of two sites - each with two TetraFlex® carriers - and creates a network that covers the entire EMO site.

Thanks to the Kolibri control room solutions, which - like all the other system components - are connected to EMO’s emergency power supply, direct communication is possible between the control room and the radio users “in the field”. The entire solution is covered by a 7-year rental contract under which Flash Services Netherlands will meet all of EMO’s radiocommunication needs.
NOTE: In our our latest edition of TETRAFlash Magazine you will find a case study from Motorola Solutions on EMO.
