Cassidian wins contract to extend Asia’s largest TETRA network in Beijing
As part of the Phase-5 project for the network, Cassidian will provide two DXT3 TETRA switches and more than one hundred TB3 and TB3p (its smaller version) TETRA base stations.
Cassidian has been awarded a contract from the Beijing Just Top Network Communications Company Ltd. to update the Beijing Government Shared TETRA Network to the latest release standard and expand it to accommodate up to 110,000 users. TETRA stands for terrestrial trunked radio and is a standard for digital trunked radio.
As part of the Phase-5 project for the network, Cassidian will provide two DXT3 TETRA switches and more than one hundred TB3 and TB3p (its smaller version) TETRA base stations. The customer will therefore be able to increase network capacity by 15,000 subscribers and serve up to 110,000 users after expansion.
Provided by Cassidian, the Beijing Government Shared Radio Network, also called the “Beijing Just Top TETRA Network”, is the largest digital trunked network in Asia and the biggest city-wide TETRA network in the world. It covers the Beijing city area, all venues, metro lines and counties, the main highways and important buildings. Users of the shared network come from different government agencies, including municipal committees and government, public security bureaus such as police, fire and ambulance services, communication and water conservancy departments, and urban management organisations.
