Airwave, UK provider of mission critical voice and data communications for the emergency services, has completed a last-minute GBP 1.7 billion debt refinancing, reports The Times.
The refinancing comes as the UK government prepares to open the emergency services network contract to tender in May.
The contracts will be divided into four lots, with mobile network operators EE, O2 and Vodafone all expected to bid alongside Airwave, whose current contracts run until 2016 and 2020.
