With regards to search and rescue operations in Norway, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre of Norway (HRS) cooperates with emergency services and other actors in Norway. It is therefore a natural step that they have now adopted Nødnett.

With Nødnett, we will receive more opportunities to communicate with those we work with, says Bent-Ove Jamtli, Director at HRS Northern Norway.

HRS has two operations centers; HRS South at Sola near Stavanger and HRS Nord in Bodø. Responsibilities between the two centers is divided by the border between Nordland and Nord-Trøndelag county.

HRS Northern adopted Nødnett 19 January, while HRS South had joined Nødnett a week earlier on the  12th January. As the first outside emergency, HRS adopted Nødnett equipment at its operations centers.

"Especially our radio communication with emergency services has become much easier, but it also allows for communication with helicopters and connecting maritime channels so its is now easier to interact with the other playeers, says Jamtli.

Nina Myren (DNK) commented that DNK is pleased that HRS is now on Nødnett.
