Simoco was selected to supply and install a Tier 2 Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) system to Brisbane Bus Lines in Queensland, Australia. The contract signifies Simoco’s first major commercial deployment of its new Xd DMR product range.
Brisbane Bus Lines is one of the largest bus and coach charter companies in Queensland, offering country and urban routes, school and Translink services. The order, which was secured by Simoco Australasia and installed by technicians from local partner Philcomm, includes DMR mobiles installed across the entire fleet of buses and coaches. The contract also includes DMR portables, being deployed at the Brisbane Bus Lines headquarters.
The bus company will use the system to effectively communicate and coordinate its various bus operations throughout Brisbane, covering an area of 5,950 square kilometers extending to Dayboro, which is 40 kilometers northwest of the Brisbane area. The system runs across two Philcomm radio sites, one in Mount Coot-Tha and another at Ocean View.
“I am delighted to be able to announce that we have successfully supplied our first DMR system,” said Ian Carr, CEO of Simoco Group. “This follows our highly successful dealer launches around the world, which generated considerable interest and demand. Our strategy for Simoco Xd has been focused on strong support for the standard, coupled with a Simoco implementation, which eases migration to digital and provides a software-only upgrade path to full Tier 3 trunked DMR.”
