The Airbus Ecosystem for Public Safety Apps Grows Rapidly
The Airbus application developer programme SmarTWISP starts its next phase: it will now start certifying mission-critical apps, and developers can try out their inventions on the Tactilon Dabat device, a Tetra radio and android smartphone.
This will accelerate the creation of an Airbus application platform and attract more and more inventive developers. The project will create a healthy ecosystem for secure applications in the area of public safety.
Since the programme’s inception in November 2016, dozens of international developers and software companies have already registered for SmarTWISP. The programme will continue to grow and it will enrich its offering to the app developer community in the months to come.
“Airbus has fully launched SmarTWISP in order to have attractive apps available for public safety users when they receive their Tactilon Dabat in 2018,” says Eric Davalo, Head of Strategy, Solutions Portfolio and Engineering for Secure Land Communication at Airbus. “Our application developer programme will enable Tactilon Dabat users to obtain a varied selection of sophisticated communication and collaboration tools on their device.”
Application developers can register free of charge for the SmarTWISP programme on the “Secure Land Communications” website and find a kit which will help them begin making new mission-critical applications. Once approved for a free membership, developers can access guidelines, tools and the application programming interface (API). Furthermore, developers themselves can benefit from special training, tools, as well as reward schemes, especially when applications sell well.
The SmarTWISP developer programme has opened the premium membership levels “Licensed” and “Certified”. Upon approval, the application developers and solution providers will be equipped with real Tactilon Dabat devices. They will also be able to purchase SmarTWISP credits which will give them the possibility to have their solution tested and certified by Airbus.
Airbus will provide more detailed information soon on its website www.securelandcommunications.com and during the PMRExpo fair in Cologne (from the 28th to 30th November 2017): Airbus stand D01, hall 10.2, Koelnmesse exhibition centre (Cologne).
