Sepura Staff Support Cambridge Homeless Charity Wintercomfort with Large Donation
Wintercomfort was thrilled today to receive over £3,900 in donations from Sepura, the Cambridge-based communication experts.
The donation is the result of a six month campaign that has seen Sepura find many ways to lend support to the charity, which supports homeless and vulnerably housed individuals in Cambridge.
As well as hosting a sponsored sleep out at their offices overnight, the staff at Sepura took part in a number of social events including a footgolf competition at the height of the World Cup, and a Christmas Bake Off in the run up to the holiday season.
The company have been keen to support the charity in other ways as well, so held a donation day where staff supplied sleeping bags, clothing and food to support the charity’s vital welfare service. In addition, three laptops were provided to the charity, allowing service users to gain key IT skills and search for housing solutions or job opportunities.
To put this into context, the company’s contribution to Wintercomfort can be used to provide professional job skills training for more than 30 service users, or support work placement for 6 users to help individuals regain the dignity of a working job. On a more fundamental level, the funds could provide a cooked breakfast for a week on to 180 people.
On receiving the donation, Simon Pickering, Fundraising and Communications Co-ordinator said “We are really very grateful to the whole team at Sepura, they have raised a fantastic amount and their entire team have got behind the fundraising initiatives they have organised, we rely on companies fundraising for us in order to continue our important work with the homeless in Cambridge. Our thanks again to all at Sepura for their hard work”
Joe McHugh, Sepura’s HR Director said: “Working with Wintercomfort has been enormously rewarding for Sepura. We have given staff the chance to help the charity in a number of ways and everyone really came together across the organisation to support a very worthwhile cause.”
Ben Yelton, Communication Manager at Sepura added: “It is so important for large organisations like Sepura to support great causes like Wintercomfort, in terms of how we can help the charity but also how we can come together as a company to build stronger bonds and develop our identity as a group. Added to the donations we have made in 2018 to CPSL mind and Macmillan Nurses, Sepura have donated just over £7,000 to worthwhile causes this year, something which all my colleagues should be extremely proud.”
