Motorola Solutions equips Brazil public security forces with 4G
Motorola Solutions is planning to equip Brazilian public security forces with LTE devices from 2018, reports DCI. According to company president in Brazil, Elton Borgonovo, the police, which until now communicated only by voice, will also get broadband data, enabling the introduction of a multitude of new services. These will include real-time video transmission via the agent's field device, the creation of dedicated "bubbles" of 4G communication from portable equipment and access to interactive maps and social networks.
In Brazil, the use of 4G networks by public security forces is still in the test phase. Although the Army has already made small acquisitions of components, according to Borgonovo, large-scale use depends on the release of spectrum. The Armed Forces and Public Security have reserved two sub-bands of 5 MHz in the 700 MHz band, being released gradually as analogue TV is phased out.
