TCCA’s Critical Communications Broadband Group Confirms new Vice-Chair
Luz Fernández del Rosal from Germany’s Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS) takes up key role as critical broadband moves closer to commercial deployment.
TCCA’s Critical Communications Broadband Group (CCBG) has confirmed Luz Fernández del Rosal from Germany’s Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS) as the new Vice-Chair. Luz takes over the role from Emmanuelle Villebrun from the French Ministry of the Interior and will work with CCBG Chair Tero Pesonen.
Currently responsible for the coordination of the international activities of BDBOS, Luz is based in Berlin. Her previous focus was on international standardisation and the development of both the TETRA and 3GPP standards. Prior to joining BDBOS, Luz managed research and development projects at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin.
A Working Group of TCCA, the CCBG drives the development and adoption of common global mobile broadband standards and solutions for users who operate in a mission critical or business critical environment. CCBG works with standards development organisations and other stakeholders, coordinating activities through a number of taskforces for the benefit of all critical users, and is responsible for TCCA’s inputs to 3GPP as the Market Representation Partner for critical communications.
“BDBOS shares the belief that the greatest benefit for the critical communications community relies on standard compliant and interoperable solutions,” said Luz. “As representative of BDBOS I would like to contribute to CCBG with the dynamic power of a big national operator preparing the way towards broadband. From my professional experience, I have learnt that excellence can be achieved by bringing multiple competences and expertise together - this is the essence of CCBG.”
“On behalf of CCBG, I am very pleased to welcome Luz as our new Vice-Chair. This is a significant role with key responsibilities as the activities increase around the standardisation, specification and certification of critical broadband products and services,” said Tero Pesonen, CCBG Chair and co Vice-Chair of TCCA’s Board. “The appointment was formally approved during our online Plenary meeting this week. We look forward to the immense contribution that Luz will make to the CCBG and thank Emmanuelle for her invaluable work with the Group.”
TCCA is a member-driven organisation and the activities of its many Working Groups are undertaken by committed volunteers who also have demanding day jobs. “I would like to take this opportunity to recognise everyone who contributes to TCCA, to thank BDBOS for allowing Luz to take on this role, and also to thank Erillisverkot for their continued sponsorship of Tero who has led CCBG with great success since 2014,” said Tony Gray, TCCA Chief Executive.
