Some police officers are concerned about the performance of the C2000 TETRA communication system.

According to the Dutch daily newspaper "Telegraaf" and other daily publications, some police officers are concerned about the performance of the C2000 TETRA communication system during the next throne change. During previous large events and emergencies, such as the plane crash of Turkish Airlines near Schiphol Airport, the C2000 communication system was overloaded.

It is expected that during the event on the 30th April, hundreds of thousands of visitors will make intensive use of their mobile phone and thus occupy the network on April 30. With that in mind, police officers are scared that this will also influence their network.

Over the last months, measures have been taken to avoid congestion problems on the C2000 network.  For example, additional transmitters have been placed and mobile phone companies have increased the capacity on their network.

A spokesman of the Amsterdam Police said: " There has been taken extra measures, such as extra capacity, new masts and we expect that these measures will be enough". "We have also made agreements on the use of the radio's".
